Vancouver Island Salmon and Halibut Charters

Well the season is coming quickly. Just a few notes to be made on the new regs. Halibut is one (1) a day with a possession limit of three (3) until the end of April, then the regs change to one (1) a day and two (2) possession until the end of May. For the rest of the season it is two (2) halibut a day and only two (2) possession. For the Renfrew area the salmon limits are still the same with a two (2) springs a day, and a possession limit of four (4). There is lots of talk about restrictions for salmon on the West Coast but no need worrying about this until a decission is or is not made. As for coho only hatchery fish will be allowed early in the season with the possibility of keeping unmarked fish late in the year. Same limits apply as previous years, two (2) a day with a possession limit of four (4). 

The Hauler ventured out to fish for Halibut for the first time this year last Sunday. What a beautifull day, sunshine and calm seas. The fishing was fantastic, with the guests landing seven (7) and loosing four (4) more. The fish that where kept where all in the 30-55 lb range, so a fun day was had by all. I tell you there is nothing like the first feast of the season of fresh Halibut and crab.
